The other day, I headed out to an elementary school in Surrey to speak to a couple classrooms for Camp Read, an annual event at the school. Members of the community came in to speak to students about their careers and how important reading is in their jobs. I visited a grade 7 and grade 5 classroom and shared my experiences with the students.
Some of my favourite questions:
“Is that picture from a movie?”
“Have you met any celebrities?”
“If you could photograph a celebrity, who would it be?”
“How much do you make?”
*ahem* Interesting questions kids have.
Actually, they were all very keen on photography and asked some really great questions. A few of them said they have SLR’s and edit photos with photoshop. One student said he’s been to Dolcepics.com! Awesome!
The grade 5 class was really sweet and made me a thank you card which they all signed.
Almost makes me want to be a classroom teacher again.

Yes, kids do LOVE to ask personal questions (the little ones because they are that curious and blunt, and the older ones because they are imps!) such as “How old are you?” and “How much do you make?”. When my students do this, I make them a crazy math problem: you want the answer? gotta work for it!
Sounds like you had a very nice time!
