Last monday, I had the extreme pleasure of attending Ninja Workshops led by Dave and Quin of DQ Studios, extraordinary wedding photographers based in Calgary, Alberta. It was my first time attending a photography related workshop, so I didn’t know quite what to expect but let me tell you that it was better than anything I imagined it might be.
In a nutshell, Dave and Quin shared what worked for them with their business and also what mistakes they made to get where they are now. They also demonstrated their ninja lighting techniques they use to achieve their unique look and artistic style. We also got to check out Renaissance albums, DQ Studios Quikeys & Quantum lights among other products.
Here are a few more shots I took documenting the workshop.
Looks like fun right? It was and highly educational. I encourage you to attend workshops in your area and learn from your colleagues.

That really does look and sound like a great and really worthwhile workshop. Unfortunately where I live there are never any such workshops. Maybe in Edmonton (but I live 6 hours one way from there). Hey, see she’s wearing a short dress — I wear one much longer and it’s A-line so that I can crouch, spread out, and really not worry about my skirt riding up
Looks like some great lighting information

Hi Diane,
There were a few people from Calgary, Seattle, Victoria who travelled just for this one-day workshop.
Hopefully you’ll get to go to one too.
And, she’s wearing shorts underneath.

What fun! I would love to do something like this. Hopefully someday….
I’m also drooling over those cameras.
