Ok, I really need to work on this whole “flare” thing. I got a few decent shots of her covering the sun so that she got some nice hair lights going on but once she moved out of the way, I didn’t know how to compose a nice photo with the flare. It was more difficult since she was moving around so much and didn’t care at all that I was trying to take some pictures! Ah, so what’s new? Anyways, this is me trying out something new.
How often do you challenge yourself to try something different?

Very cool shot! Looks like she sat still long enough to get some decent flare. I’m still working on figuring that out, too. I also tried for some flare shots last night and wasn’t getting cooperation .

I love the whole flare thing, but not so great at it at all. Have to keep practicing!

I LOVE flair! But like you, I’m still working on learning how to capture it….not much success yet. But this a very sweet shot!

the sunflare is beautiful here! her expression is perfect for it in this photo… very lovely… i love capturing flare…i had a day when i caught some pretty flare, but i have yet to really do it with a human subject also in the frame… but i’ll definitely have that in mind the next time i’m shooting with sunlight!!

[...] contrast to my sun flare shot in yesterday’s daily pic, here’s one where I shot with a smaller aperture so that I would get more defined sun rays. [...]

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I’ll be practicing my flare shots for sure. Just have to be careful not to shoot long exposures directly into the sun… some say it may damage your gear a bit. Usually our shutter speeds are super quick though.
