One challenge I have with colour is when shooting vibrant reds and pinks. I’ve heard that Nikons capture reds differently but I haven’t really looking into it that much, nor can I really compare with other brands. I do find that we have to be careful with those tones. So with the photo above, I chose to do a desaturated, dark tone to try something different. I used the adjustment brush in Lightroom 2.0 to touch up the wood on the pier by increasing the contrast and clarity, just for a little more texture. Cropped and tweaked here and there and that’s about it.

This was taken on one of the last summer nights we enjoyed outside. Stacy’s Theme Thursday is a round up of our favourite summer shots and this one seemed representative. I was wondering why Sophie suddenly crouched and my first thought was… “uh oh… diaper time”! But it wasn’t that thankfully. She was just mimicking me as I got down low to capture her at her eye level. Silly monkey!
