I haven’t participated in Stacy’s Theme Thursday for a while so today I was determined to join in! Even though it’s not thanksgiving here in Canada today (or next week), I don’t need a special day to remind myself to be thankful everyday. I chose this bare branch as an image of thankfulness because although it’s leaves have fallen, you can still see the life that will bud anew when the time comes. Renewed life is what I’m thankful for. There is always hope for a fresh start.
I’ve been wanting to try this type of processing but never quite got it until now. I think I’m getting close! What do you think? I don’t remember exactly what I did in Lightroom but thankfully the history is saved so I can always open it up again and see all my changes. Awesome!

Love the shot and the processing! That’s one thing that is nice about Lightroom over CS3 - I can’t see my history once I flatten the layers.
Oh yes, Thanksgiving is next Thursday here. We are just having Thankful this week since I think we will all be too busy with family gatherings next week to have a Theme Thursday. I know I will!

I love this image! One of the hardest things for me is watching the trees lose their leaves (winter:no sun+cold=not happy) but one of the best things for me is watching them bud and grow new leaves (spring:sun+warm=happy). As I move into the winter season and the feelings that often come with, I look at your picture and feel a wonderful surge of hope that warmed me!

Hi Laura! I think we have both disappeared for a little while from eachothers blog! I love this shot. And yes, being thankful for renewed life is something we should always remember.
I downloaded the trial version of LR2 and am in love with it! Im thinking about getting it for a christmas present to myself. I have been scowering EBAY….since I know I dont want to pay $300.00 for it!

The soft, almost monotone color evokes a peaceful mood. Love your thoughts, too.
