Sophie discovered the little playground at her grandparents’ place last week and just loved the slide there. I got to practice freezing motion. You need to use a high shutter speed to prevent motion blur. Although, next time we play on the slides, I’ll be trying out some panning shots where she can be kept mostly in focus while the background has some motion blur. You can get a similar effect with some post processing by applying a motion blur selectively to the background, but that can’t be nearly as fun as panning, can it?
We’re on vacation for the next few weeks so my posts may be somewhat sporadic at best. I’ll try to post photos as we go along and of course, continue with What’s Your Play. Cheers!

I know you’re going on vacation so you won’t get to this anytime soon. But please, pretty please, teach us how to pan the camera. Do you “lock” the focus somehow?
Ok, well have a great trip. Looking forward to some awesome photos.

Great job freezing the motion - no blur at all! I had never thought of panning on the slide - duh! :oP Have fun on your trip!

Hi Everyone! Been crazy busy… on vacation.. how ironic is that? Going to hit the road tomorrow for a long trip so I don’t know how much time I’ll get on the internet. I’ll try some panning shots and share as soon as I can! Take care everyone!
