It’s my first SOOC Saturday over at Melody’s Slurping Life. I’ve always wanted to participate but it’s tough when you shoot in RAW since RAW files have no in-camera processing. If you’re shooting JPG, even though it’s straight-out-of-camera(SOOC) you really are applying some processing to the photo because your camera does it for you by adjusting the tone curve (contrast), white balance and adds some sharpening, while RAW is… well… RAW. This is a RAW file with no editing done except resizing, exporting as a JPG, and adding the watermark. As RAW as it gets. Even so, this particular photo has vibrant colours and a bit of vignetting. That vignetting is probably caused by having two filters on my lens at the same time. I had a UV filter and a circular polarizer (which explains the vibrant colours) on, so I believe that caused a bit of mechanical vignetting.
If you’re brave enough to share your SOOC’s, join us at Slurping Life!

Laura, thanks for the link. I’ve come across Slurping in my internet travels but this is the first I’ve seen of SOOC Saturday, this is something I’d like to participate in. Mucking around with editing is really my thing right now so this is right up my alley. Thanks for posting it. NIce shot by the way (as usual), very cool vignetting. I’d like to learn how to do that SOOC - practice I guess.

Great shot, I love fall colors. I am clueless about editing, so SOOC is perfect for me.

Laura, you have me wondering… based on your comment on my SOOC blog post. Here’s a link to your comment and my reply
http://fimby.tougas.net/SOOC-November-Garden#comment-6946:
So my question is: What exactly counts as a SOOC shot?
This is what I do: I download my RAW photos onto my computer into my photo program, Bibble. I then export them (without touching them) from there onto flickr or my blog. Obviously there is some processing going on there. My photo program takes the RAW file (which I prefer shooting in) and converts it to a JPG for exporting. Is this still considered SOOC? I have never actually downloaded directly from my camera to my blog. Is a SOOC only one that is downloaded directly. I’m so confused.
Also, my RAW files never look flat, they look very rich. Is that from Bibble’s processing?
It doesn’t matter to me if a photo is edited or not. I just don’t want to say I’m shooting SOOC if I’m in fact “processing” and I don’t know it.
I’d appreciate you helping me out with this.

I love it when the sky is that bright blue! Seems the early spring and fall produces that brilliant blue! Great shot!

Our trees are looking much the same lately. Growing more and more bare by the minute.
Lovely blue sky…

Welcome to SOOC. I’m a sucker for sky shots and love the vignetting here. I’m a RAW shooter, too and have to convert to JPG to post my SOOC.
Digital makes it difficult for us to truly be SOOC, doesn’t it?

Nice blues. It’s still SOOC as long as you didn’t make adjustments after taking it off your camera.

Thanks Laura for taking the time to respond. I read it. Whew… don’t want to be saying one thing but doing another.

Wow! I love this SOOC shot. Great idea on doing two filters at once. i am going to try my Hoya CPL and UV together tomorrow and see if I like it.
