I met up with Molly and Mike for their engagement session at the Garden City Park in Richmond this morning. We really lucked out with the weather considering the forecast kept changing every few hours!

I really enjoy spending time with my couples before their wedding day to get to know them better and for them to feel more comfortable in front of the camera. Molly and Mike made my job so easy with their beautiful smiles and genuine care for each other. Here are just few from the today’s session. (Click to enlarge)

See what I told you about their smiles?

Mike loves the outdoors, so we were sure to choose a location with lots of nature. How cute are these little ducklings?

Their sweet daughter, Lauren, joined us for the last part of the session. Isn’t she adorable?

We got quite the workout trying to keep up with this little one.

Thanks again Molly, Mike and Lauren for being so great! I am blessed to know you. Looking forward to your wedding next month!

Studio Lighting Workshop

Jun 4, 2010 Posted in Daily Pic

I just got back from an impromptu studio lighting workshop with fellow Vancouver photographers. We discussed flat, rembrandt, loop, butterfly, split, rim, broad and short lighting.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at our instructor, Dave, talking about posing a group of people in a studio.

It all started at a coffee shop two days ago and these amazing photographers pulled together a studio, makeup artist, models and wardrobe. Two days! Make it happen among your network of creatives!

Seeing all your wonderful versions of last week’s cherry blossoms left me inspired.

I’m working on a series of images for a longer blog post but I couldn’t resist posting one a little earlier. This is another one from Anna and Max’s gorgeous wedding I second shot for Cathy Empey a few weeks ago. It was a super windy but gorgeous day at Dundarave in West Vancouver. Sometimes I like to shoot a little wider and get in close for a different perspective, showing more of the setting and also lending a different feel to the image. What do you think?
