If you read my latest How-To article about photographing smoke, you might have been wanting to try it yourself. For those of you who don’t have the time or equipment to set it up, here’s one for you to process. There are a million ways you could work this photo. Change the hue, the exposure, the orientation. Invert it or how about some cloning? Have fun playing with this one!

First I played with split toning:

This weeks Dolce Pics gave me the opportunity to combine two images in a creative way. I found the picture of the 9 Chimneys on the net (looks like England). In Gimp I then took the smoke from Dolce Pics 60, reduced by 85%, pasted as a layer in the appropriate locations and set the layer mode to Difference. Flatten and save and this is what you get. Hope you enjoy the results. Below you will see the two pictures side by side with their original ratios preserved.

Had a student come in this morning to make up a quiz, so I had a little free time while I sat here waiting! Woohoo!
I like how the yellow/golds turned out sort of “buttery” - but that might just be because I’m hungry.
This photo put me in the most “playful” mood! I inverted it first (oops - forgot to mention that on the flickr page), then went all crazy with it!
